MikeBikes · Kampung Baru
MikeBikes leads small groups on orange city bikes from Kampung Baru through back lanes, Chow Kit market, Chinatown and across Merdeka Square. It covers more of the city in a morning than any walk, with fruit and a local lunch on the way.

MikeBikes runs from a shop in Kampung Baru, the Malay village of wooden houses that survives a few minutes' walk from the Petronas Towers. You get a Dutch-style bike with a basket, a helmet and a safety vest, a short test ride, and then two guides take the group out at 8 am. The route uses back lanes, river paths and bike lanes, and one guest logged "just over 15km at a very relaxed pace".
Dataran Merdeka is one of seven stops, and the listing gives it 10 minutes. That's enough for the photo and a short story, not for a slow look round. The tour's real strength is the rest: Chow Kit market with fruit you have never seen, Kampung Baru, the River of Life, Sin Sze Si Ya Temple and the towers, plus a hot local lunch. Reviews name a long list of guides (Alex, Wye, Selle, Barry, Sin, Ping) and almost all mention feeling safe in traffic.
Two things to know before you book. The booking is non-refundable and can't be changed, so only book once your dates are fixed. And you need to be able to ride a bike: the group shares roads with KL traffic at times. If you want time inside the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, which reopened to visitors on 2 February 2026, come back on your own after lunch; it's free to enter.
Meet at the shop on Lorong Raja Muda Musa 4 in Kampung Baru. Pick a bike, helmet and vest and try it out.
A short stop on the square for the photo and the story of 1957.
The city's big wet market, with tropical fruit to taste.
Through KL Forest Eco Park and along the River of Life.
Wooden Malay houses, then Sin Sze Si Ya Temple in Chinatown.
A local lunch, a stop at the Petronas Towers and the ride back to the shop.
★★★★★The guide, Wye, was funny, friendly and informative, with a great knowledge of the history of KL, and an excellent understanding of the cultural mix of Malay, Indian, and Chinese peoples. [...] A great visit to the markets, with an introduction to many unusual tropical fruits, and some really excellent other food stops too.
★★★★★The whole trip was well organized and made very safe for us, despite the Traffic. [...] The 4 hours went passed very quick and we saw really the most important stuff of KL.
★★★★★Great day for the classic tour with Alex and Sin. Did just over 15km at a very relaxed pace with lunch included
★★★★★We saw lots of areas and sights we would never have considered visiting. We also had a great lunch. Our guides were David and Major … they were fantastic and took great care of us.
