InfoFun Walks · Chinatown, on foot

A small-group city walk

A long walk from Chinatown through Central Market and past Merdeka Square to the National Mosque, with at most six people and snacks on the way. Pick it for the small group and the ground it covers, not for time on the square.

Small-Group City Walking Tour

About this experience

InfoFun Walks starts at the Nicholas Choong wall mural by gate A of Pasar Seni MRT, opposite Hotel Mandarin Pacific in Chinatown. The first hour is Chinatown, then 20 minutes in Central Market, and then the route heads west and north on foot: past Dataran Merdeka, to the National Mosque for 15 minutes, and on past the Perdana Botanical Garden and Nu Sentral towards Bukit Bintang, Jalan Alor and the towers. There's a morning and an afternoon route.

Be clear about the square: the listing marks Dataran Merdeka as pass by, with no stop. You walk past and the guide talks, but you won't have time for a slow look. If the square is your reason for booking, take the heritage walk instead and come back here another day.

What this tour does well is size and range. Six people at most, and several reviews say they were the only guest and still got the tour. Reviews name the guide Alvin and praise his knowledge of the temples. One guest put the distance at over 10 km on a hot day, and the listing asks for moderate fitness and warns people with back or heart problems off it. Snacks and water are included.

What guests say

★★★★★

The tour guide, Alvin, was extremely knowledgable in the history of Malaysia and all the cultures that it is composed of. In each temple he was able to explain the religion, history, and even name all the gods and godesses.

We learned a lot about KL and saw places that we hadn't visited before. We covered a lot of ground on a hot sticky day. You need to be relatively fit to do this your. It is all on flat ground, but over 10 km so not for the extremely elderly.

Alvin was a very good guide, knowledgable and introduced the different parts of the city center and some historical background of the places. I was the only customer and he still held the tour for me, I really appreciate it.
